Copperhead Ale (Fordham)

When I was about 10-years old I walked directly over a coiled copperhead in the Texan hinterlands. I noticed his majestic presence mid-stride. Unlike the rattler or more aggressive snakes, I found the copperhead a wonder to behold (but not to beheld).
This ample budget ale from the Delmarva area bearing the copperhead's name splits the difference from those distinctive craft brews with your average watery domestic. The taste itself is firmly in the ale camp with a good bitterness and the right balance of caramels. It doesn't try to linger on the palette and that is a good trait.
Too often craft brews pack such a wallop that its hard to discern if it is good or bad. Sometimes, its a good thing when the taste of a brew doesn't get in the way and let's you keep on walking.
Pairs well with Pavement, Shorty Rogers and the second Doors LP.
