Brooklyn Chocolate Stout (2011)

I had my first BCS in 2001 or thereabouts. It was a grand taste that swirled about my palette. Since then the seasonal brew has waxed and waned. In 2010, it waned. In 2011, it waxed.
There is a majesty to an imperial stout that is beyond words. In 2011, Brooklyn got the ratios of subtleties to punch just about right. I like how they've toned down the chocolateness yet didn't give in to the sugary side of the stout.
Clocking in at 10%, this is a sipper, or a party brew. Dealer's choice.
Pairs well with Lee Morgan, Lee Konitz and Kevin Ayers.
