Is it a seasonal ale, or an ale for all seasons? Widmer Brothers' BRRR Seasonal Ale combines the best of its signature taste in a well-balanced ale.
I like how versatile the drink is. While being a mellow ale it lacks the bitter ale-ness; and it also avoids the crass 'seasonal' brew tastes and squarepeg flavors. One will not find hints of arcane spices or fruity-duty notes, its pretty a straight forward taste.
Too often 'seasonal beers' are like Richard E. Grant on some sort of Posh Nosh dross. "First, we put the hops in a tanning bed for 6 hours and then hand-wash all of the water we use in this special brew. Then, we add a hint of wattleseed and a dash of Ambergris.... Mmmmm. Can't you just taste the squid beak."
I think this is one of its finer brews and should be avail year round. Pairs well with Tír na nÓg and Dinosaur jr.
